For the Cotswold Canals Trust
Doesn’t time fly! On the 1st April, Connie and I signed up for the CanAmble2022 in aid of the Cotswold Canals Trust. And no, it is not an April Fools joke we are really going to take part. It is on Sunday the 1st of May. One whole month away.

Why
Harvest Time currently resides on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, well technically on the Stroudwater Navigation, a tiny stretch off the G & S that is navigable! At present. Therefore, have a very real interest in seeing this restoration succeed. With the aim of linking the G & S to the River Thames by resorting the Stroudwater Navigation with the Thames and Severn Canal. all 38 miles back to its former glory and navigable once more for boaters and walkers alike to enjoy.
About the CanAmble2022
A little about the CanAmble2022, it starts in Stroud along the canal which is being restored to its former glory to Sapperton Tunnel. Along the walk we will be able to see what has been going on with the restoration. It’s approximately 7-8 miles from start to finish. Connie and I would love it if you have a few spare pennies pass some along to my JustGiving page especially set up for this quest.
A little Walk
Sunday Connie and I took a walk from here to the A38 Roundabout along the line of the Cut. Partially to see in person the finished work at the roundabout which allows the canal through the centre of said roundabout.

The route, from Saul junction which is only navigable at this end, for a few hundred yards because there is a flat road bridge on the way! This will be moved, and I understand it will become an arched bridge. Then on to a lock with an access lift bridge. The cut will then slide into the river Frome for awhile before once more diverging up to the A38.
The roundabout there had a makeover during Covid the canal now goes straight through the centre. I made a little video, it can be found on youtube. Another first I have never edited clips together before! As a first attempt at just over 5 minutes I am happy but next time I know I can do better. So, watch out more maybe in the pipeline and each time hopefully will improve.
It was a very pleasant day, for a walk along the river and old Cut, it is abundant with wildlife of all varieties, I do have to wonder what is will be like when it is restored with boats navigating it’s waters once more? on the other hand being joined back to the rest of the network all year round would be fantastic.

Muddy Dog
Connie had a marvellous time on the walk, she loves splashing around in the shallows and mud. Although she can swim, her favourite is the muddy shallows, currently the river Frome is a little deeper than the summer thus preventing her from sitting and paddling in the water too much. She was covered in stinky mud when we got back, No way was she allowed back on the boat like that! if you see the Video, we made you can see for yourself the state she was in!

Dog Wash
I have a short section of hose with a rose on the end I use on the pontoon water point to wash her down along with very expensive environmentally dog shampoo that can go direct into the water course without harm to the fish. Now I have a clean non stinky dog but very wet! And until she has dried not allowed inside. Fortunately, the weather god was kind and she dried quickly with a little help from the doggy blow drier!
